Since 1992, I have pursued my artistic interests. I have been inspired by the scenic communities where I have lived which include Gloucester, MA; Sackville, NB; my birthplace St. John’s NL and my current home of Fall River, NS where I live with my husband and two children.
I have successfully exhibited in Art Pieces Gallery, Bedford, Nova Scotia; Red Door Art Gallery, Fall River, NS; ArtPort Gallery, Halifax, NS; and am currently exhibiting in the Cheesecake Gallery, Mahone Bay, NS, and Art Sales and Rental- Art Gallery Nova Scotia. I have been a member of the 14th Palette Art Group since 2000.
Nova Scotia's romantic and wild beauty has inspired me for 20 years. The diversified forests, meandering brooks, waterfalls and change of seasons provide endless inspiration to me. These elements of nature in a kaleidoscopic environment is my primary interest. Motion, mystery and magic are created through deliberate entanglements of brush strokes and rich colour contrasts. I want viewers to escape, even for a brief moment, into my romantic world.
In the Blue of Evening 20x16, oil It's not the sadness that I see, In winters nighttime snow. The Blue of Evening sparkles bright, And hidden secrets glow. For further inquiries on this piece, please contact me at sjconklin@eastlink.ca
